Center Policies and Information

  Class Observation

Parents are asked to remain in the Green Room or in the downstairs  entrance hallway while class is in session.  Please refrain from standing at the top of the stairwell in the studio area even for the last few minutes of class.  Periodically, parents may be invited to visit a class.  If you would like to arrange a visit, please contact the instructor of that particular class.

  Holiday Schedule & Inclement Weather

Generally, MCA follows the holiday schedule of Harrison County Schools unless instructed otherwise.  When school is canceled or there is an early dismissal due to inclement weather in Harrison County, there will be no class at MCA that day.  This does not include regularly scheduled early releases or Faculty Senates – this is only in case of weather cancellations.

Dropping off & Picking Up Students

Parents must bring students to class on time.  If a student is late to class the instructor will decide if the student can participate for the remainder of the class.  This policy ensures the respect of the instructor and the safety of the student.  Without proper time to warm up muscles from the beginning of class there is a greater risk of injury.  Please refrain from bringing younger children more than ten minutes before the start time of their class.  After a class is over students must remain inside the building until a parent arrives.  Under no circumstances are they to wait outside the building.

  Make-up Classes

There will be no pro-rating of classes or deductions unless an error has been made by MCA.  If a student misses a class for any reason, it is the responsibility of that student to make-up that absence in another class of a comparable level.  We will not refund or apply tuition to future classes for multiple absences.  Tuition payments are based on the registration schedule, not attendance and must be paid accordingly.

  Tuition and Payment Schedule

Tuition at MCA is billed and is to be paid in six-week sessions.  Due to scheduling there are some classes that may encounter more or less than six classes per session.  On such occasions payment is not adjusted as the tuition is billed for approximately 35 weeks of classes.  Due to scheduling students usually have more than 35 classes.  The registration fee (listed below) and tuition for the first six weeks is to be paid at registration.  Payment for the remaining six week sessions is to be made on or before the first  class of each new session.  A fee of $10 will be assessed for payments that are more than 10 days late.  There will also be a $10 fee for any returned checks.

Registration Fees (per family): $25

Emory Oldaker

Emory was employed by the Department of Justice for 11 years where he had the opportunity to travel the world to include trips to London and Africa.  Emory also had the opportunity to assist in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.  In February 2008, Emory finally decided it was time to go out on his own and to make a career change when he resigned from the Department of Justice to work full-time as a dance and fitness instructor.

His passion for dance and 20 years of dance and tumbling experience has lead him to establish unique dance and fitness opportunities for children and adults in North Central, WV.

Emory started dancing and tumbling at the age of 11.  As a young teenager, he studied locally, but also studied with world-renowned choreographers throughout the Unites States. At the age of 15, Emory became one of the original Miss West Virginia Pageant dancers and after 18 years, he still continues to volunteer his time to the Miss West Virginia Scholarship Organization. He is also a certified judge for the Miss America Organization.

He has brought home numerous national competition titles and awards and at the age of 16, Emory was invited to compete in Hollywood, CA on the international television show, STAR Search. He was also offered, at the age of 17, to begin a professional dance career in Nashville, TN and Fiesta, TX.  Today, Emory continues to foster his dance and fitness education through workshops and is also a certified Zumba instructor!
